VRB Energy’s kW-Class VRB-ESS® can be combined with 4, 6, 8 or 10 hours of electrolyte energy.
Suitable for deployment at large commercial and industrial sites, or institutional sites, or in clusters of 10 or more at solar PV projects, EV charging stations, or in microgrids.
VRB-ESS® kW-Class systems are based on 100kW containerized module. They are typically sized with at least 4-hours of energy, with some configurations up to 10MW, suitable for deployment at large commercial, industrial and mining sites, rural utility substations, and in support of solar, wind and microgrid projects.
VRB-ESS® kW-Class Power Modules have a nominal rating of 100kWW AC and have charge and discharge characteristics optimized for providing the maximum output power per unit cost. Each unit contains power conversion systems (PCS), HVAC and a SCADA control system.
VRB-ESS® kW-Class benefits:
• Modular and easy to deploy
• Low cost, Safe, Scalable
• 100% Capacity, Long Life
On the customer side, “behind-the-meter” at large C&I facilities and mining sites, VRB-ESS® reduce operating expenses through multiple benefit streams:
• Reduction of peak demand charges from utilities.
• Integration and optimization of on-site renewable energy.
• Provision of backup power that reduces losses in the event of utility outages.
• Reduction of wear on equipment through improvement of power quality.
Each VRB Energy VRB-ESS® 100kW containerized Power Module is composed of 2 cell stacks, tanks, pumps and controls. A power conversion system (PCS) is included for a complete AC system with low voltage output.
VANADIUM vs LITHIUM
Flow batteries store energy in liquid electrolyte, which doesn't degrade.
VRB-ESS® can be discharged each and every day to full depth of discharge without any capacity degradation, delivering greater operational flexibility and lifetime than lithium-ion batteries.
While lithium-based batteries are well suited to consumer electronics and electric vehicles, their lifetimes can be limited.
VRB Energy’s VRB-ESS® technology can be discharged over an almost unlimited number of charge and discharge cycles without wearing out.
This is an important factor when matching the daily demands of utility-scale solar and wind power generation.
VRB Energy currently has over 500MWh of projects under development, with increasing interest being shown for storage projects of 8-hours duration.
VRB Energy has the most proven technology and reliable products in the industry today offering up to a 10 year warranty.
VRB-ESS® beat lithium batteries on depth-of-discharge (DoD), cycle life, and end of life value delivering a lower levelized cost of storage (LCOS).
